Russian Literature Out Loud...

Check out today's public outdoor reading of Leo Tolstoy's Anna Karenina, near Weatherdance Fountain in the Ped Mall. Readings will be today and Thursday from 9am to 9pm, and Friday and Saturday from 9am to 6pm. More events are planned for this celebration of the works of Tolstoy and Chekhov and the University of Iowa's Russian program. Our re-scheduled, first-ever KIDOWS! kids' window painting event was a big success. Located at 21 downtown Iowa City businesses, kids flocked downtown to try their hand on a big window canvas, still on view at most locations until Halloween. KIDOWS! Kids' window painting event Saturday at 21 downtown businesses

The first ever KIDOWS! Window painting event takes place this Saturday, October 16, 10-2pm at participating businesses. School-aged kids can show up at Fired Up! on 112 S. Linn St, opposite the library, and be assigned to a spot. Or, if kids and parents already have a relationship with a participating business, they can show up there. All paints and tools provided, but wear clothes that might not mind being embellished with a red splash. Store staff will supervise painting but parents are encouraged to accompany their children as no childcare is provided.  The 21 participating businesses include Textiles, RSVP, Hamburg Inn, Teaspoons, Pagliai's Pizza, Murphy Brookfield Books, G Spot Hair Design, Revival, MC Ginsberg, Domby, Eadology, Discerning Eye, Home Workshop, Om, Fired Up, Iowa Artisans Gallery & DJ RInner Goldsmith, Bella Joli, Lorenz 2.0, Inbox and Buzz.  Stop by- the weather looks like it will be fabulous!
